What you do as Construction Manager Light Industry

Within our Light Industry market we serve clients within the Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Consumer Goods and Technology sector. As a Construction Manager, you are expected to deliver total success to allocated construction projects in green- and brown-field manufacturing environments. You will be leading and managing multidisciplinary construction teams and act as the first point of contact for both all contractors as well as the client representatives at site and understand our client´s primary processes. You are expected to have a personal network of potential clients and you have the commercial skills to develop accounts into sustainable repeating business. Your main responsibilities consist of: 

  • Manage large-scale construction projects in a multi-stakeholder environment, supporting multinational clients in making value-driven decisions; 
  • Lead the construction management team, coordinating various contractors and overseeing project objectives related to safety, cost, schedule, and quality; 
  • Ensure daily construction schedule oversight, comparing progress against plans and taking necessary actions in case of disruptions; 
  • Chair technical meetings, review variation orders, and negotiate technical and financial aspects on behalf of the client; 
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, contractors, and consultants, provide engineering advice, and oversee compliance with safety procedures and permits.

The Project Management & Consultancy team consists of highly experienced and solution-oriented Project & Construction Managers and Consultants with extensive experience in large-scale, multidisciplinary projects in various sectors. Our goal is to achieve higher productivity and lower operating costs for our clients through technical optimization. Together with our clients, we place projects in a broader perspective. We have a clear vision of the built environment. The impact of the built environment goes beyond pure functionality and also touches on the quality of life. Recent innovations show up best in new buildings, and their benefits are measurable. But what about existing buildings? Renovating, refurbishing or converting existing buildings brings new challenges. And sustainable solutions require smart thinking.

What you bring

As Construction Manager Multinationals we expect you to be a qualified professional, and project management certifications are desirable (e.g., IPMA, Prince). With your proven track record in managing medium and large-scale construction projects, you have built a strong, high level (international) network within the food & beverage, pharmaceutical and other manufacturing sectors. An international mindset and willingness to travel for short-, medium- and long-term assignments are important in this role, which is why an international CV would be desirable. 

Within this role we expect you to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effortlessly adjust yourself in an international and culturally diverse environment and be able to act as coach and mentor for other staff. You must be able to build and maintain a trusted advisor status at director level with clients. As an entrepreneur with strong business acumen and sound understanding of business financials with a clear market drive, a focus on clients and the client’s network recognizing profitability and revenue potential in business opportunities. You also stay aware of international standards and developments in the fields of health and safety and sustainability and actively promote these in your projects. 

Furthermore, you have: 

  • A relevant technical background (civil, mechanical);
  • Over 10 years of experience in the management of multidisciplinary construction projects, preferably in the food & beverage, pharmaceutical or other manufacturing sectors; 
  • Knowledge of the different types of contracting; 
  • Affinity with process (engineering); 
  • Previous employment with a manufacturing company would be an advantage. 

Your ‘home office’ will be Rotterdam, Nijmegen, or Eindhoven. But as our projects are all over the Netherlands and internationally, flexibility towards traveling is expected.
