What you do as a Junior Internal and External Communications Specialist

You will be part of the marketing team within the Business Line Water & Maritime (W&M), supporting with the coordination and operational execution of our Internal Communications strategy, PR initiatives and extensive Events programme. This means you have a perfect variety in your work, while also creating exposure to our three leading markets: Climate Resilience, Water Technology and Maritime.

Regarding Internal Communications, you will coordinate and implement the internal communications programme for our three leading markets. This includes:

  • Coordinating approved plans and roll-out initiatives aligned with our W&M Internal Communications strategy
  • Creating impactful messaging and digital assets, including communications from our CRM system, to drive engagement and activation, aligned with our Internal Comms strategy
  • Managing the W&M IC calendar and support with the organisation and execution of internal events including live Teams calls.
  • Acting as a point of contact for our global Internal Comms team to ensure integration of corporate programmes in our W&M messaging, and rollout across all relevant internal channels
  • Implementing the new reporting cadence to analyse impact of employee engagement and make recommendations on how we measure and increase awareness

In terms of Events, you will coordinate industry events, webinars and round tables for our three leading markets. This includes:

  • Driving event execution, collaborating closely with our leading market experts and the Water & Maritime Marketing Managers
  • Creating content to promote events, including website copy and social media assets
  • Supporting with the creation of creative concept briefs
  • Managing and coordinating event deliverables, including negotiating with key suppliers
  • Researching potential events aligned with the strategic ambitions of our three leading markets
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth-running of all event elements

The third aspect you are working on is PR, you will support the PR & Events Manager in the execution of both reactive and proactive opportunities to build brand awareness for the company and the three leading markets. This includes:

  • Assisting in creating content and proofreading materials for our website, social media channels and publications in the media
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to build and enhance opportunities
  • Researching and monitoring media coverage in relevant newsworthy topics to gather external insights and provide reporting to the PR & Events Manager
  • Analysing the coverage of our PR communications, assessing the audience and reporting on the impact

What you bring

As our new Junior Internal and External Communication Specialist, you have a great set of organisational and time management skills to execute projects with a keen eye for detail. With your self-motivational, pro-active, and solution-oriented mindset, you like to go the extra mile during internal communication, event and PR efforts. Furthermore, you can work in an agile way, which includes interacting with a variety of stakeholders.

Besides that, you:

  • Have a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in marketing and communications and/or journalism preferably with a mix of Internal Communications, managing Events and Public Relations
  • Are a confident communicator with strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Are fluent in English, both verbal and written (C1/C2 for NL staff)
