What will you do

The Market Lead is responsible for business development and sales in a specific Market in this case Ports and Terminals and is expected to be a technical leader within the Advisory Group.

In this role, you will have a major impact on our place in the market, specifically focused on work for and within the ports and terminals market and our ability to win and execute these projects.  

You will play a key role in showing and growing our expertise and will also significantly contribute to account management and our profitability and reputation.  You will have an outward-looking focus, with an ability to prioritise work-winning, delivering quality solutions and gaining high levels of client satisfaction. You will bring with you an established network of key people within your market and supporting services and be enthusiastic to grow and manage your own and the companies’ profile within this network.

You will be based in Sydney/Brisbane or Newcastle, however, travel to our other Australian offices and project locations will be required. In addition, you may be required to travel to some of our other offices/project location in the Asia Pacific Region to promote connectivity across the unit. 

Core Activities

The core activities of the Market Lead’s role are as follows:

  • Clients – To understand who the clients are in your market, to be able to determine their needs and to then be able to identify how we position ourselves to service them with the solutions that they require.
  • Whilst engaging closely with the Business Development Director, act as the Market Advisor for your designated market to the Australian RHDHV leadership team.
  • Project Management – To direct and manage projects, in line with RHDHV guidelines and procedures.
  • Market knowledge – Ensure that RHDHV stays up to date with current developments in your market and that you are also up to date with product knowledge in your own area of expertise and that this knowledge is shared. Keep up to date with the market trends including new technologies. Undertake market reviews and contribute to the annual Market Development Plan.
  • Negotiations – lead contract negotiations with clients in line with project scoping, commercial and RHDHV project management guidelines, in order to generate work for self and others.
  • Leadership – provide technical and commercial leadership and contribute to the strategic direction of the business.

 Business Development and Account Management

  • Strengthen RHDHV’s reputation strategically in your Market. See that RHDHV is visible at the front of this market and is an active thought leader in the Maritime & Resilience space in general.
  • Develop new business for the W&M team and other parts of RHDHV’s business (i.e., winning work for yourself and others), through interaction with clients including strong face to face engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic approach to your market sector within any relevant Global Sector frameworks.
  • Build and maintain a high level of client relations at a strategic/decision making level.

Knowledge Sharing and Transfer

  • To maintain a current knowledge of your ‘market’, to ensure that RHDHV is always aware of new developments and market changes.
  • Leading the company’s strategic approach and representing the company at specific key market events in the region including relevant conferences, industry events and so forth.
  • Ensure that knowledge is transferred and shared internally on developments in your market Sector, both within your team and with others throughout the company including the relevant Global Sector Director.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Civil or Structural Engineering Degree; Science Degree; or Environmental Degree (or equivalent) - essential
  • Significant network within the industry/market you are leading.
  • Significant project experience in Australia - essential
  • 10-15+ years’ experience in consulting - essential
  • Experience with writing proposals of small to large projects
  • Chartered with IEAust or RPEQ is desirable, must be obtained within 6 months.
